Alcohol: 4.2% v/v (3.3% w/w)
Grain: 2 oz. German smoked malt
6 oz. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
2 oz. Special Roast
2 oz. Canadian Honey Malt
2 oz. Roasted barley
Boil: 75 minutes SG 1.106 1.6875 gallons
4 lb. Alexander's Pale malt extract syrup
0.5 lb. Wheat malt extract syrup
Hops: 1 oz. Hallertauer (4.2% AA, 75 min.)
0.5 oz. Hallertauer (4.2% AA, 45 min.)
Yeast: European Ale yeast (Wyeast #1338)
Fermentation temps. ideally 60-63° F.
Log: Condition in secondary for several weeks.
Carbonation: Batch prime with 3/4 cup dried malt extract,
and allow bottles to condition for several
more weeks before tasting. Low carbonation
is normal for Scottish ales.
