Simple Lager

A very easy, basic lager. Good for a first time try at a temp. controlled beer.

1 tsp Irish moss 30 min.
Hops: 1.5 oz. Hallertauer (3.2% AA, 60 min.)
0.5 oz. Hallertauer (3.2% AA, 10 min.)
Yeast: Morgans lager yeast (dry), 2 packs @ 6gm each
Log: Brewed on 10/9/97, lagered @ 52F until 11/2.
Racked to secondary and lagered @ 55F until 11/18.
Bottle conditioned for 2 weeks.
Carbonation: primed with 3/4 cup corn sugar
Tasting: The beer was a big hit with friends. It tastes like a slightly darker & heavier Sam Adams Lager (others' reaction). The hops were apparent, but not too strong for non-hopheads. I may try adding more hops next time, but it is a very good base recipe, easy to tweak and add things to.
