Richard's Experiment

This is an experimental brew with a couple of kg of fresh, green, hops of varied cultivars (mainly Willamette). The beer was made in a You-Brew, with Saflager yeast.

14 HCU (~9 SRM)
Bitterness: 43 IBU
OG: 1.068 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 6.8% v/v (5.3% w/w)
Grain: 0.2kg Wheat malt
0.4kg German Munich
Steep: The grains were bagged in muslin and soaked in the wort, which was heated to near boiling. No thermometer was used.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.065 24 liters
2.5kg Amber malt extract
2.5kg Rice extract
Hops: 130g Willamette (5% AA, 30 min.)
20g Willamette (5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Saflager, made into a starter.
