Jester's American Brown

Brewer: Jeremy M. Email: jmenefee@uswest.net
Beer: Jester's American Brown Style: American Brown
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
59 HCU (~25 SRM)
Bitterness: 29 IBU
OG: 1.046 FG: 1.018
Alcohol: 3.6% v/v (2.8% w/w)
Grain: 0.25 lb. American chocolate
0.25 lb. American black patent
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.114 2 gallons
6 lb. Amber malt extract
Hops: 2.5 oz. Willamette (5% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 5 min.)
Log: Pitched, and fermented, at 78F due to local temps at time. The
effect (this beer, anyway) was actually an improvement.
Carbonation: 1.5 volumes Corn Sugar: 2.35 oz. for 4.9 gallons @ 78°F
Tasting: Came out as one of my better beers, though of course this depends on
your tastes. Was ready to drink after 10 days in bottle. Has a very
nice, lightly sweet flavor, a medium-amount of hop aroma, and was only
slightly bitter. I know I reversed the hops, but was an experiment.
Came out very nice! Hop-heads; add more hops! (duh) Try +1oz. first.
