Pre-Stout Brown

This beer is being brewed to work up the yeast for an Imperial Stout that will be brewed the same day that this is racked to the secondary.

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
39 HCU (~19 SRM)
Bitterness: 54 IBU
OG: 1.067 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 6.7% v/v (5.2% w/w)
Grain: 8 oz. British crystal 50-60L8
4 oz. British chocolate
Steep: Grains placed in bag and steeped in 3 gallons 152°f. water for 45 minutes.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.048 7 gallons
4 lb. Light malt extract
3 lb. 12 oz. Light dry malt extract
1 tsp. Irish moss for 60 minutes, 1 for 15 minutes.
Hops: 1.2 oz. Centennial (10% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Wyeast 1084 (Irish Ale) XL pack. No starter.

Carbonation: This will be cask conditioned with 3/4 cup DME in a corny keg. It will be hand pulled at a x-mas party and whatever is left will be pushed by COČ.
