3rd Try Pale Ale

Slight change to the Sierra Nevada recipe from Clone Brews.

Beer: 3rd Try Pale Ale Style: American Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
12 HCU (~8 SRM)
Bitterness: 34 IBU
OG: 1.054 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 5.1% v/v (4.0% w/w)
Water: Tap water for the boil. Filtered water to top off the carboy.
Grain: 4 oz. American crystal 40L
2 oz. American crystal 60L
6 oz. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
Steep: Steep grains at 150° in 1/2 gal. of water. Rinse with 1/2 gal of 150°. Add water to total 3 gal for the boil.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.090 3 gallons
7 lb. Light malt extract
Add Irish Moss last 15 min.
Hops: 1 oz. Nugget (13.5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Perle (8% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: American 1056
Log: 7 days in primary. 7 days in secondary. Dry hopped with 1/2 oz Cascade in secondary.
Carbonation: 3/4 cup corn surgar at bottling
Tasting: After 2 weeks in the bottle this was great. Everyone tells me not to change a thing. Some like it better than SNPA.
