5 HCU (~5 SRM)
Bitterness: 41 IBU
OG: 1.057 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 5.8% v/v (4.6% w/w)
Water: Bottled spring water. no treatment.
Grain: 10 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. American crystal 10L
1 lb. 12 oz. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
.5 lb. Flaked oats
4 oz. Rye (raw)
Mash: 70% efficiency
Mash in 122, protien rest for 30 min
Boil 1.5 gal first thick decoction for 20 min. add 1 gal liquor at 152 to mash, return decoction to mash. Mash at 152 for 45 min, mash at 158 for 60 min, use .5 lbs rice hulls. sparge w 5 gal at 165. check for conversion
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.053 6.5 gallons
Throw in those hops! Dry hop with another oz of cascade in secondary fermenter.
Hops: .75 oz. Perle (8% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 30 min.)
.25 oz. Perle (8% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Perle (8% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
.5 oz. Fuggles (aroma)
.25 oz. Perle (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast Chico American ale
Carbonation: Bottle with 1 1/3 cup extra light DME
