Iron Duke American Pale Ale

A light Pale Ale with low bitterness, but alot of hop aroma.

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
20 HCU (~12 SRM)
Bitterness: 11 IBU
OG: 1.048 FG: 1.009
Alcohol: 5.0% v/v (3.9% w/w)
Water: ArrowHead Moutain Spring Bottled water.
Grain: 8 oz. American crystal 10L
16 oz. American crystal 60L
Steep: Place grains in grain bag and place in water. Heat water with grains till the temp reaches 170°F; 20-30 min time should have passed, if not reduce heat and hold temp below 170°F until 30 min time has passed.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.040 6 gallons
6 lb. Light malt extract
1 oz. Irish moss with 20 min remainin in boil.
Hops: .5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: WLP 001 California Ale, 500 ml starter made with 1.040 OG wort and pinch yeast nutrient 24 hrs prior to pitching. Entire starter pitched into wort.
Log: Fermenting schedule:
24 hrs @ 72°
6 days @ 70°
Rack into secondary 1 week after brewing
Dry hopped 1 oz cascade (pellet) in secondary
7 days @ 70°
Bottle
Carbonation: 2.4 volumes Corn Sugar: 3.97 oz. for 5 gallons @ 64°F
