OG: 1.075 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 8.3% v/v (6.6% w/w)
Water: Pur water filtered all Boil and Sparge water, Kirkland brand bottled water added to bring to 5 gallons
Grain: 8 lb. American 2-row
8 oz. American Munich
8 oz. Scottish Peated
8 oz. Belgian biscuit
1 lb. American crystal 20L
Mash: 80% efficiency
Mash is done using a single decoction to bring mash from protein rest at 125°F to 150°F for primary conversion. Mash then brought to 165°F for mash out and raised to 170°F for sparge.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.075 5 gallons
2 lb. Rice extract
1 tsp. Irish Moss at 45min of boil
Hops: 1 oz. Amarilo (9.1% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Crystal (4.25% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Crystal (4.25% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Amarilo (9.1% AA, 5 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (aroma)
.5 oz. Crystal (aroma)
Yeast: White Labs Dry English Ale yeast.
Log: first gallon from sparge pulled and boiled til sparge is completed and boil has begun, it is then added back to boil.
Carbonation: Kegged using force carbonation
Tasting: Well balanced Beer, decent hop balance and nice warm toffee and caramel notes work well together. Rather strong but no harsh alcohol taste. Tastes best served a little warmer, ~50°F
