Satan's agenda IPA

God said, he who eats the fruit from the tree of life shall perish. Satan had a different idea... and tempted eve with the fruit. If ol' nick had tempted eve with this beer, I think she would have rolled over just that much quicker.

Brewer: Rathole Email: am1nightcreature@yahoo.com
Beer: Satan's agenda IPA Style: India Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
16 HCU (~10 SRM)
Bitterness: 59 IBU
OG: 1.057 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 6.0% v/v (4.7% w/w)
Water: meant to use some gypsum, but I forgot. I forgot so much in this beer, I should have called it "I forgot IPA"
Grain: 1 lb. American crystal 40L
Steep: steep 'em in a grain bag for a half hour at 155°
Boil: 70 minutes SG 1.062 5 gallons
7 lb. Light malt extract
1 lb. Light dry malt extract
The Recipator, good as it is, can't keep up with my hopping schedule. Here's what I did:

1 oz Perle (7.6 AA) 60 min
1/2 oz cascade (6.6 AA) 30 min
1/2 oz cascade 25 min
1/2 oz cascade 20 min
1/2 oz cascade 15 min
1 oz cascade 10 min
1/2 oz cascade 5 min
1 oz cascade dry hop
1 1/2 tsp irish moss, 10 min

Additionally, each batch I brew has just a tiny bit of Copenhagen snuff added. Did I tell you that?

Hops: 0.77 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
0.77 oz. Perle (8% AA, 60 min.)
0.77 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 45 min.)
0.77 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 30 min.)
0.77 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: Danstar "nottingham" dry yeast, rehydrated per instructions
Log: Brewed it today, 11/12/03. Only meant to put 1/2 oz each at 20,15,10 and 5 minutes... forgot the irish moss, didn't want to screw up my hop sched, so I just kept dumping hops in for the next 10 minutes to give the irish moss leprechans a chance to work. I get the idea that there is a slight chance that this will be a bit hoppy.

11/17/2003: Racked from primary to carboy. SG 1.012 and smells real good. Dry hopped with 1 oz cascade

12/3/2003: Bottled tonight. Taste shows nice clean bitterness, wonderful hop aroma, just smells wonderful while bottling. SG 1.010
Carbonation: 3/4 cup corn sugar
