Hop August Nights

Hop August Nights I.P.A. is a tribute to my favorite time of the year.Its the time of year when life is lived in shorts,tank-tops and thongs,sittin in the backyard with loved-ones and friends with a cold homebrew in hand,Enjoy!!!

Beer: Hop August Nights Style: India Pale Ale
Type: Extract Size: 6 gallons
Color:
19 HCU (~11 SRM)
Bitterness: 44 IBU
OG: 1.056 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 5.7% v/v (4.5% w/w)
Water: Pre-boiled Spring water
Grain: 1 lb. American crystal 10L
1 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
1 lb. British crystal 50-60L
Steep: Roasted all grains in oven at 150 degrees for 20 minutes.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.084 4 gallons
8 lb. Light malt extract
Grains were placed in a grain bag at 150 degree water for 30 minutes. Removed from heat and stir in extract until dissolved and return wort to burner to boil,follow hop schedule(all hops used in this batch were whole leaf hops)
Hops: 1 oz. Columbus (15.8% AA, 45 min.)
1 oz. Perle (8% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Centennial (aroma)
1 oz. Fuggles (aroma)
1 oz. Hallertauer (aroma)
Yeast: British Ale (Wyeast) #1098?
Log: brewed 8/01/00 and racked to fermenter

kegged 8/21/00
Carbonation: force-carb in keg
Tasting: life is rough when you've put all your time and effort into something and its gone in only a few short hours.
life is good when you see all the smiling face's of all the people who sampled the beer that we worked so hard on.
