Challenger IPA

This brew was very popular at my brothers bachelor party.

Beer: Challenger IPA Style: India Pale Ale
Type: All grain Size: 5.25 gallons
Color:
15 HCU (~9 SRM)
Bitterness: 71 IBU
OG: 1.057 FG: 1.013
Alcohol: 5.7% v/v (4.5% w/w)
Water: Filtered tap water adjusted with gypsum.
Grain: 9 lb. British pale
1 lb. British crystal 50-60L
Mash: 80% efficiency
mash at 155 degrees for 90 minutes.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.046 6.5 gallons
Irish moss added last 15 minutes.
Hops: 2 oz. Challenger (7.2% AA, 90 min.)
1 oz. Challenger (7.2% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Challenger (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast British ale in 1 quart.
Log: Ferment at 70 degrees. 1 week primary, 1 week secondary.
Carbonation: 2.0 volumes Keg: 11.3 psi @ 50°F
Forced Co2 to carbonate.
Tasting: Very good flavor. Next time I'll add a small amount of Northdown
at 10 minutes to make the flavor more complex.
