1 lb. British crystal 50-60L
.5 lb. Roasted barley
Mash: 65% efficiency
155F mash 70 minutes, 2 hour sparge
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.075 9.5 gallons
teaspoon Irish Moss
Hops: 2 oz. Centennial (10.5% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Perle (8% AA, 60 min.)
1.5 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Centennial (aroma)
Yeast: 1 pint of slurry from local brewpub. Top fermenting English ale style, fermented out completely in two weeks.
Log: 72F 7 day primary, 7-15 day secondary.
Carbonation: kegs
Tasting: "Low" gravity makes this a quick and tasty barley wine--removing desire like Buddha. A good cross between English and American barleywines. I might skip the roasted barley next time and add a little crystal 20 instead.
