English Lawnmower


this is is an emerging stile in England. Take any standard bitter recipe and replace about half the barley with malted wheat. Makes a much better beer than you might think.

Bitterness: 27 IBU
OG: 1.052 FG: -
Alcohol: -
Water: Boil 10 gal. w/ 2tsp. calsium sulphate. 1tsp. magnesium sulphate after cool. Decant off sediment
Grain: 4 lb. British pale
4 lb. Wheat malt
Mash: 85% efficiency
2 gal. mash water. 30min.protein rest @130. Overnight mash at 151f.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.040 6.5 gallons
Irish Moss at 15min.
Hops: 1 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 90 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Golding (5% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Golding (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast 1098 from previous brew. About 1C.
Tasting: After six weeks this beer is really outstanding. A very well balenced ale. Toobad there isn't a catagory to enter.
