Broken Meter Dark Ale

This is a modification of a previous recipe, modified to add the mash for my first partial-mash. My hydrometer and its flask were knocked over just after taking the OG, giving this brew a name.

Brewer: Bryan Dore Email: -
Beer: Broken Meter Dark Ale Style: American Brown
Type: Partial mash Size: 5.25 gallons
Color:
24 HCU (~13 SRM)
Bitterness: 30 IBU

Alcohol: 6.0% v/v (4.7% w/w)
Water: Used tap water for the boil, mashing, etc., two gallons of sealed spring water ice, and then tap water to top it off to around six gallons. Austin's water seems decent for the mash.

1 oz. American black patent
6 oz. American crystal 60L
4 oz. Belgian CaraMunich

Heated 2.5 quarts of water to 130°. Added grains and stabilized near 128° for 30 minutes. Raised temp to 130°, and added 1.5 quarts of boiling water to raise temp to 150° for 15 mins. Added heat and raised temp to 158° for near 50 mins. Sparged with 1 gallon water at 170°.
Boil: 55 minutes SG 1.110 2.75 gallons
2 lb. Honey
4.5 lb. Dark malt extract
Brought to a boil and added extract. Used a quart of near boiling water to flush the container. Brought to a boil and added hops. Boiled for 45 mins and added flavor hops and honey, using another quart of near boiling water to rinse container. Boiled for 10 mins, added aroma hops, and removed from heat.
Hops: 3 oz. Fuggles (4.9% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (4.9% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (aroma)
Yeast: White Labs California, added the next morning at about 72°.
Log: Brewed on Dec 28, 2009. Pitched the next morning. Racked on Jan 4. SG was 1.014. Bottled on Jan 17. Yielded 12 22oz bottles, 10 16oz bottles, and 12 12oz bottles.
Carbonation: 3.9 volumes Honey: 7.98 oz. for 4.4 gallons @ 68°F
Tasting: A bit on the malty side. I'll mash at a higher temp to increase the fermentables and lighten the body a bit.
