Brita Filter for sparge
Grain: 1 lb. British crystal 50-60L
8 oz. Flaked barley
Steep: 15 minutes at 165
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.103 3 gallons
6.6 lb. Light malt extract
1 lb. Amber dry malt extract
1 teaspoon Irish moss added
last 45 min of boil
Hops: 2 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 10 min.)
Yeast: White labs pitchable british ale yeast #006
Carbonation: 1.9 volumes Keg: 7.3 psi @ 45°F
Tasting: Very reminescent of a Newcastle, but a cleaner aftertaste
Next time would rack into a tertiary with gelatin crystals
to clarify.
