Type: Extract w/grain Size: 3.75 gallons
Color:
55 HCU (~23 SRM)
Bitterness: 39 IBU
OG: 1.094 FG: 1.022
Alcohol: 9.2% v/v (7.2% w/w)
Grain: .5 lb. American chocolate
.25 lb. Weyerman Smoked Malt
Steep: 160° for 30 min.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.078 4.5 gallons
7.6 lb. Light dry malt extract
Hops: 1 oz. Northern Brewer (9.5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (4.5% AA, 5 min.)
Yeast: I used wyeast 1098 repitched from a previous batch.
Log: Brew date: October 9, 1998
Primary (plastic): 70° for seven days
Secondary (glass): 70° for 13 days
Bottled on October 29, 1998
Carbonation: 1/5 cup of Dextrose
Tasting: Okay. This beer is really really young for it's strength but it sure
is tasty. I drank two the other night and didn't realize just how
powerful it was until I stood up. It definately deserves some age. It's
going to sit for a while before I drink anymore of it.

It's really smooth going down. It it felt really warm all the way to
my belly like a fine bourbon. The smoke flavor blends very well without dominating the whole thing. Nice and subtle.
I felt like I was sitting in front of the fireplace
in my old apartment.

I wish I still had a fireplace. Renting stinks.
