Herf'n Helles

Great session beer with lots of malt and subtle bittering
for the spring and summer.

5 HCU (~4 SRM)
Bitterness: 17 IBU
OG: 1.053 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 5.3% v/v (4.2% w/w)
Grain: 15 lb. 8 oz. German Pilsner
3 lb. German Munich
1 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
Mash: 80% efficiency
Step mashed at 122 degrees for 20 minutes and the 152 degrees for 90 minutes.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.045 13 gallons
Irish moss added
Hops: .75 oz. Northern Brewer (8.0% AA, 60 min.)
1.5 oz. Saaz (3.00% AA, 60 min.)
Yeast: German lager from whitelabs. I used a third generation yeast from previous batch of marzen.Lots of yeast!
