Steam Mower

Lawn mower steam beer at it's best.

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5.50 gallons
Color:
7 HCU (~6 SRM)
Bitterness: 28 IBU
OG: 1.040 FG: 1.009
Alcohol: 4.0% v/v (3.1% w/w)
Water: 1 tsp gypsum (optional)
Grain: 5 oz. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
10 oz. American crystal 10L
Steep: 160ºF for 30 min
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.033 6.75 gallons
5 lb. 0 oz. Light malt extract
8 oz. Amber dry malt extract
Irish Moss, Cara-pils listed for steeping is
actually W. Carafoam which does not need mashing.
Hops: .50 oz. Hallertauer Mittelfruh (4.9% AA, 60 min.)
.50 oz. Hallertauer Hersbrucker (5.2% AA, 60 min.)
.50 oz. Cascade (6.0% AA, 30 min.)
.25 oz. Cascade (6.0% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: WL California Ale - 500 ml starter
Log: Ferment @ 67ºF for total of 11 - 12 days.
Transfer to secondary if you prefer after 5 days.
Carbonation: 2.6 volumes Corn Sugar: 4.90 oz. for 5.25 gallons @ 68°F
Make a H20 corn sugar solution and add to
bottling bucket, then rack on top of solution.
Tasting: Light, well carbonated, with a subtle flower
aroma. Nice summer session beer.
