First Pilsner

My first lager. Made it simple so hopefully it will turn out ok

Brewer: Rathole Email: am1nightcreature@yahoo.com
Beer: First Pilsner Style: German Pilsener
Type: Extract Size: 6 gallons
Color:
9 HCU (~7 SRM)
Bitterness: 33 IBU
OG: 1.054 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 6.0% v/v (4.7% w/w)
Water: RO filtered water
Boil: 40 minutes SG 1.059 5.5 gallons
8.8 lb. Light malt extract
Short boil to try to keep the color down.
Boiled 1.5 oz spalt hops 20 min in separate pan to bring out bitterness (hopefully). Dumped them into brewpot for the rest of the 40 minute boil. other hops as per hop sched.

Extract is "Weyermann" brand Bavarian Pilsner, unhopped. LHBS says it is very authentic, and it better be for the price!
Hops: 1.5 oz. Spalt (5.3% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Spalt (5.3% AA, 35 min.)
1 oz. Saaz (3.75% AA, 10 min.)
Yeast: "Saflager" dry lager yeast, rehydrated
Log: Brewing as we speak. Will keep you updated.
The wort looks a little dark, darker than expected. Dang. Actual OG 1.050 Primary ferment at 54°

4/23/04: Sulpher odor evident during primary ferment. Transferred today to secondary, no off odors. SG 1.010 Much darker than i had hoped. Good clean malty taste.
