McKeown Heavy

This is my first try at an all grain Scotch Heavy. All others have been extract and part-mash. McKeown is my family name.

Beer: McKeown Heavy Style: Strong Scotch Ale
Type: All grain Size: 20 liters
Color:
135 HCU (~43 SRM)
Bitterness: 28 IBU
OG: 1.070 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 7.1% v/v (5.6% w/w)
Grain: 3kg 600g British pale
600g Wheat malt
1kg British crystal 70-80L
500g British chocolate
Mash: 80% efficiency
Can be also made to produce a double mash, to make a strong Scotch Ale, and a weaker (3.5% alc/vol) Two Penny ale.
Scotch mash: 69°C, 1hr.
Two Penny Mash:69°C, 1hr, using the spent grains and topped up mash liquor from first mash.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.070 20 liters
Add hops before boil, ie: first wort hopping.
Hops: 50g Willamette (5% AA, 90 min.)
Yeast: WYeast Scottish ale yeast: 1728
Carbonation: 1.5 volumes Cane Sugar: 32.1g for 20 liters @ 13°C
