quasi-Liberty ale

With this recipe I'm hoping to at least come close to Anchor Liberty Ale. My first attempt at this developed an infection due to a combination of too long a lag time between cooling and pitching, not using a starter, and my primary fermenter (plastic bucket at the time) not being properly sanitized. The bucket has since been replaced with a 6-gallon carboy, and I now use starters.

Brewer: Len Spencer Email: Lenspencer@aol.com
Beer: quasi-Liberty ale Style: American IPA
Type: All grain Size: 5.25 gallons
Color:
6 HCU (~5 SRM)
Bitterness: 41 IBU
OG: 1.049 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 4.7% v/v (3.7% w/w)
Water: Use 1 to 2 tsp. gypsum as necessary in mash water (not really necessary unless you have very hard water).
Grain: 8 lb. 8 oz. British pale
8 oz. American crystal 20L
Mash: 75% efficiency
2.25 gallons water for infusion mash 152° for 90 minutes. Sparge with 4.5 gallons water at 170-175°.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.036 7.0 gallons
Irish moss last 15 minutes of boil.
Hops: 1 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast #1056 American Ale, 1 quart starter.
Log: Only add 1/2 ounce Cascades at end of boil. Primary ferment about 4 days (my house runs low 70's), rack to secondary and dry hop with other 1/2 ounce Cascades, ferment to completion.
Carbonation: Prime with 3/4 cup corn sugar. You could instead use 1 to 1 1/4 cup light DME if you prefer a smoother finish, but I like the slight edge the corn sugar gives it. Not enough to make the brew cidery, but you can tell the slight difference.
Tasting: Unfortunately there was no finished product to taste due to the infection. I had originally used 40 LV crystal, which made somewhat darker than Anchor. The 20 should give it a little more of that ligher orangeish-gold color I'm after.
