Just some more beer to have ready for tailgating during the Pittsburgh Steelers home regular season.

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
18 HCU (~11 SRM)
Bitterness: 59 IBU
OG: 1.064 FG: 1.018
Alcohol: 5.9% v/v (4.7% w/w)
Water: Bottled Pennsylvania mountain spring water.
Grain: 2 lb. British pale
8 oz. Belgian CaraMunich
Steep: Steeped/Mini-mashed the grains for 50 minutes at 150-155°F. Sparged with 1 gallon 170°F water.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.053 6 gallons
4 lb. Light malt extract
3 lb. Light dry malt extract
1/4 teaspoon Irish Moss Powder at 18 minutes left in boil.
Hops: 1 oz. Galena (13% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: 1 vial White Labs #WLP001 California Ale Yeast.
Log: Brewed 7/25/04. 8 days in Primary Fermenter. 13 days in Secondary Fermenter. Bottled 8/15/04.
Carbonation: Added 5 oz. Corn Sugar at bottling time.
Tasting: Tasted fine, (as expected), at bottling. Will be better when opened and shared with friends at the first regular season Steeler home game tailgate on 9/12/04.
