Neil's Rod and Reel Ale

I wanted a light to medium beer with a nice aroma.
Now I can sit back and enjoy fishing and a home brew
as the weather turns warm.

Brewer: - Email: nclark@iamerica.net
Beer: Neil's Rod and Reel Ale Style: American Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5.5 gallons

10 HCU (~7 SRM)
Bitterness: 24 IBU
OG: 1.064 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 7.2% v/v (5.6% w/w)
Water: I use the regular hard tap water to make up my three gallons of boil.
After boil time I use water filtered through the PUR water filter
on my sink. I chill this for a couple of hours. Adding it to my
wort helps bring the temp down fast!

1 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
Steep: Poured the grains in 2.5 gallons of 165 F. water let sit for 45 mins.
stirred 3 times (each 15 min). Dipped the grains and extract out
and strained through a collender. Rinsed or sparged the grains
with .5 gallons of water. Took all the extract and strained it through
a filter made of cheese cloth over a medium strainer.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.117 3 gallons
8 lb. Light malt extract
After filtered grain extract began to boil I added the liquid
x-light malted extract brought back to a boil and started my hopping
rates.
