Derry Street Ale

This is an easy to brew beer that I made to share with my friends on Derry Street in the Janesville Neighborhood of Manchester, NH

Brewer: Russ Blanchette Email: russ@bit-net.com
Beer: Derry Street Ale Style: American Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
17 HCU (~10 SRM)
Bitterness: 22 IBU
OG: 1.059 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 5.7% v/v (4.5% w/w)
Water: water used is straight out of the tap Manchester city water.
Grain: 1.00 lb. American crystal 40L
Steep: steep grains at 150° for 30 minutes then remove and discard grains
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.098 3 gallons
4.00 lb. Light malt extract
3.00 lb. Light dry malt extract
add irish moss in last 10 minutes of boil
Hops: 1.50 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: works well with Cooper's dry yeast
Carbonation: I've tried this with 3/4 cup dextrose bulk priming the whole batch at bottling time and also using 20 PSI CO2 in a 50° keg for a few days. Both methods work well.
Tasting: this stuff is drinkable and has been a big hit among all my friends here.
