Fat Tire Amber Clone

This is based upon information I gathered while on a brewery tour at New Belgium recently. It is so close to the real thing several of my friends couldn't tell the difference.

Beer: Fat Tire Amber Clone Style: American ALe
Type: All grain Size: 10 gallons
Color:
14 HCU (~9 SRM)
Bitterness: 20 IBU
OG: 1.052 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 5.7% v/v (4.5% w/w)
Water: Colorado tap water was fine
Grain: 12 lb. British pale
4 lb. American Munich
.5 lb. American victory
1.5 lb. American crystal 40L
Mash: 80% efficiency
50 minutes rest at 154F ( 1 quart per # of grain. Mashout at 168F.Sparge to yield 12.5 gallons.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.042 12.5 gallons
Irish moss for 30 min.
Hops: 1.5 oz. Liberty (4% AA, 60 min.)
1.5 oz. Liberty (4% AA, 30 min.)
1.5 oz. Willamette (aroma)
Yeast: 2 pint starter of Whitelabs California Ale V
Log: Fermented at 65F for 1 week.
Racked and conditioned for 2 weeks at 60F.
Carbonation: 5/8 cup corn sugar per 5 gallons for 2weeks at 65F
Tasting: Great clone. Since I got the information from a brewer, it worked out great. Nice malty aroma of bread crust and yeast notes. Hops in balance only not bitterness. Thin tight head sits atop orange amber body. Easy drinking just like they make it...but fresher.
