Easy Hoe

Great tasting Wit which is easy to put together and even easier to drink.

Brewer: Liam Ahearn Email: -
Beer: Easy Hoe Style: Belgian White (Wit)
Type: Extract Size: 23 liters
Color:
3 HCU (~3 SRM)
Bitterness: 15 IBU
OG: 1.046 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 4.9% v/v (3.8% w/w)
Water: Good old tap water.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.106 10 liters
800g Light malt extract
500g Light dry malt extract
2kg Wheat extract
Hops: 45g Kent Goldings (5% AA, 60 min.)
10g Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Yeast cultured from a bottle of Hoeegarden.
Log: Fermentation at 18°C for about a week then add 10g of cracked Corriander and the zest from one Orange. Both of which have been boiled for 5min. Syphon to secondary once primary fermentation has just about finished and keep the temp under 20°C for around 15 days.
Carbonation: I carbonate at 13psi with the fridge at under 4°C. Which gives good carbonation for the style.
Tasting: The yeast is definatly the most important ingreadiant with this brew. You won't get the cloudy haze of a true Wit but the taste should be spot on with a Hoeegarden or Celis White.
