Belgian Golden Pale

This is a nice, fruity golden pale that is fairly high in alcohol content. Excellent on a warm day.

Type: All grain Size: 6 gallons
Color:
6 HCU (~5 SRM)
Bitterness: 19 IBU
OG: 1.055 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 5.8% v/v (4.6% w/w)
Water: Use gypsum at the beginning of the boil.
Grain: 11 lb. Belgian pale
1 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
Mash: 75% efficiency
Mash at 153 degrees for one hour.
Boil: 75 minutes SG 1.083 4 gallons
1 oz. Gypsum
Use Irish Moss in the final ten minutes as a fining agent.
Hops: .5 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 45 min.)
.5 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Starter yeast made with Wyeast Belgian 1098.
Log: Ferment in primary for 7 days followed by 7 days in a secondary.
Carbonation: 2.2 volumes Keg: 10.4 psi @ 43°F
Tasting: This is a semi-sweet ale that has a fruity essence. I have also dry hopped in the secondary with cascades for a nice aroma. Enjoy.
