Hop Dog IPA

This will be my third IPA.
The last one was too malty, not hoppy enough.
This is basically a variation of Alden's IPA XIII.

Beer: Hop Dog IPA Style: India Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
13 HCU (~9 SRM)
Bitterness: 63 IBU
OG: 1.065 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 6.8% v/v (5.4% w/w)
Water: Filtered tap water.
We have very hard water,
but I use a filter to remove chlorine.
Add 1 tsp gypsum and pinch of salt.
Grain: .25 lb. Wheat malt
.25 lb. American crystal 40L
.5 lb. Flaked barley
Steep: Add grains to 1.5 gallons 170°F water
in a cooler/masher one hour.
Sparge with 1.5 gallons 170°F
water for 20 minutes.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.108 3 gallons
6.6 lb. Light malt extract
.5 lb. Brown sugar
1 lb. Light dry malt extract
Irish moss added to last 15 minutes.
Hops: 2.25 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 60 min.)
1.5 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)
0.5 oz. Fuggles (aroma)
Yeast: WYeast #1028.
Log: Ferment at 70 °F 2 weeks in primary,
2 weeks in secondary.
Carbonation: Primed with 3/4 cup corn sugar.
Tasting: Will make this weekend,
ready to drink in Spring.
