Asheville Brewers Modified

This kit is purchased from Asheville Brewers Supply. The Grain bill is unmodified, the hop bill originally consists of 1oz. Zeus 14.5% for bittering, and 1 oz. Cascade flower for aroma.

Bitterness: 103 IBU
OG: 1.057 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 5.8% v/v (4.6% w/w)
Water: I used all charcoal filtered water.
Grain: .75 lb. German Vienna
.25 lb. Belgian biscuit
Steep: Steep Grains at 160° for 45 minutes to an hour.
Boil: 55 minutes SG 1.071 4 gallons
6 lb. Amber malt extract
1 lb. Amber dry malt extract
2 tablespoons gypsum added before boil and 2 tablespoons irish moss added 15 minutes before the end of boil. Top off with cooled, pre boiled water in fermenter to make 5 gallons.
Hops: 1 oz. Zeus (14.5% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 45 min.)
1 oz. Centennial (10.5% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Centennial (10.5% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Centennial (aroma)
Yeast: 1 White Labs California Ale yeast.
Log: last 1oz centennial was for dry hopping after transferring to secondary fermenter. The one ounce before that was added at flame out.
Tasting: Very good IPA!
