Hophead IPA

Brewer: Jimmer Email: -
Beer: Hophead IPA Style: India Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
10 HCU (~7 SRM)
Bitterness: 191 IBU
OG: 1.056 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 5.9% v/v (4.6% w/w)
Water: Filtered all water. Added 2 teaspoons of Gypsum in wort.
Grain: 8 oz. American victory
12 oz. British Crystal 10L
2 oz. Light Roasted Barley
Steep: Put grain bag into cold water and bring up to 160°F. Remove from heat and steep for 30 minutes.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.068 4.5 gallons
1 lb. Rice extract
7 lb. 3 oz. Light malt extract
1/2 teaspoon Irish Moss the last 15 min. of boil.
Hops: 4 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 60 min.)
4 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 30 min.)
2 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)
2 oz. Willamette (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast Thames R.
Log: Added 2 oz. Willamette in a sterilized hopbag weighted with sterilized marbels to secondary and dry hopped until FG is reached.
Carbonation: 3/4 cup of corn sugar dissolved in 1 1/2 cups of boiling water.
Tasting: All hops were loose and the Goldings were steeped for 10 minutes after the boil, not added last 15 min. of boil.

Gotta love those wonderful hops.
