Water: ADD 1.5 TSP. GYPSUM TO FILTERED MASH WATER.
USE FILTERED TAP WATER FOR ALL WATER NEEDS.
ADD IRISH MOSS IN BOIL
Grain: 6 lb. American 2-row
8 oz. American crystal 40L
8 oz. American crystal 90L
Mash: 65% efficiency
START WITH 2 GAL. WATER ADD GRAIN WHEN WATER TEMP. REACHES 120 DEG. RAISE TO 155 DEG. AND HOLD FOR 75 MIN. MASH OUT AT 170 DEG. SPARGE WITH 1.75 GAL. WATER AT 175 DEG.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.087 4.5 gallons
5 lb. Light dry malt extract
START BOIL WITH SWEET WORT FROM GRAINS ADD DME AND 180 DEG. WATER TO TOP OUT TO 4.5 GAL. 60 MIN. ADD BITTERING HOPS AT START OF BOIL,AT 30 MIN. ADD FRAVOR HOPS,15 MIN. ADD IRISH MOSS,5MIN. ADD AROMA HOPS. DRY HOP IN SECONDARY.
Hops: 1.5 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 5 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: WYEAST # 1056 AMERICAN ALE (USE 16 OZ.STARTER)
Log: PRIMARY FERMENTATION TEMP. AT 65 DEG.FOR 8 TO 10 DAYS. RACK TO SECONDARY ADD 1 TSP. GELATIN MIXED WITH 16 OZ. BOILING WATER,AND DRY HOP.HOLD FOR 10 TO 12 DAYS.RACK TO BOTTLE OR KEG.
Carbonation: 2.1 volumes Dried Malt Extract: 6.73 oz. for 6 gallons @ 66°F
1 CUP = 6.5 OZ.
Tasting: THIS IS A GREAT IPA,WOULD'NT CHANGE A THING.
