Jack Straw Pale Ale

Beer: Jack Straw Pale Ale Style: India Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
18 HCU (~11 SRM)
Bitterness: 44 IBU
OG: 1.074 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 7.6% v/v (5.9% w/w)
Water: Use distilled driking water.
Grain: 8 oz. British Munich
8 oz. American crystal 60L
Steep: Steep cracked grains @150° for 20 mins.
The raise water temperature to 170°
for 30 mins. After steeping is complete
remove wort from heat and disgard grains.
Slowly stir in extract and return to heat
and boil.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.184 2 gallons
9 lb. 9 oz. Light malt extract
Added 1 tsp of irish moss 15 minutes
prior to end of boil.
Hops: 2 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 45 min.)
2 oz. Willamette (5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Ale yeast.
Log: Dry hop in secondary with 2oz.
