Smoke Da Oak Ale

Smoke Da Oak Y'all!!
An Ale using NZ Southern Cross hops for bitterness and aroma.
NZ Southern Cross also used for dry hopping after boil to create a
crisp finish. Oak chips added for flavour.

Bitterness: 36 IBU
OG: 1.058 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 5.7% v/v (4.5% w/w)
Water: Christchurch NZ - Tap Water
Grain: 150g British crystal 50-60L
40g British chocolate
Steep: Crystal & Chocolate grain ground in blender then added to water prior
to boil. Water then run through sieve and boil started.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.073 13 liters
3kg Light malt extract
Hops: 10g NZ Southern Cross (12.5% AA, 60 min.)
10g NZ Southern Cross (12.5% AA, 30 min.)
15g NZ Southern Cross (12.5% AA, 10 min.)
15g NZ Southern Cross (aroma)
Yeast: Safale Dryed Yeast
Log: 15 gm of NZ Southern Cross hops used for dry hopping.
15gm of Oak chips for taste. Primary fermentation started
on the 29/10/03.
Carbonation: One level teaspoon of white sugar per 700 ml bottle
