Strawbeery Honey Ale

My wife requested a strawberry flavored brew so this was my first attempt. We have both grown fond of honey brews, so this was a natural base from which to experiment.

Brewer: Trip Rice Email: -
Beer: Strawbeery Honey Ale Style: India Pale Ale
Type: Extract Size: 5 gallons
Color:
4 HCU (~4 SRM)
Bitterness: 11 IBU
OG: 1.060 FG: 1.004
Alcohol: 7.2% v/v (5.7% w/w)
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.150 2 gallons
3 lb. Light malt extract
4 lb. 8 oz. Honey
Added Irish Moss for the last 15 minutes.
Hops: 1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
0.5 oz. Saaz (3.75% AA, 60 min.)
Yeast: California Ale yeast WLP001 and 1 6g package of rehydrated dry Munton's.
Log: Steeped 2 lbs of partially pureed frozen strawberrys in 8 cups of water in a separate pot for about 1 hr. Do not boil, it will set the Pectin and cloud your brew. I added this to the cooled wort before I pitched the yeast.

Racked to secondary fermentor at 4 days after the very energetic fermentation had slowed. I noticed a slight pink tinge to the beautiful golden color of the beer. It smells delicious.
Carbonation: 8 prime tabs per bottle.
Tasting: Hardly any strawberry flavor at all. Still a very nice light colored ale, but not what I was after. Next time I will use strawberry syrup in the secondary rather than fresh berries in the primary.
