Moksha I.P.A.

The name for this IPA comes from the oldest known religion of India. A term used in this religion is "Moksha" roughly translated it means "salvation from hell on earth".

Beer: Moksha I.P.A. Style: India Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 3 gallons
Color:
26 HCU (~14 SRM)
Bitterness: 51 IBU
OG: 1.056 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 5.7% v/v (4.5% w/w)
Water: I used filtered spring water adding 1 tsp Gypsom at the boil.
Grain: 8 oz. Belgian pale
8 oz. British crystal 70-80L
8 oz. Flaked wheat
Steep: Steep grains and wheat @ 155º for 30 minutes. Sparge @ 170º.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.113 1.5 gallons
1.7 lb. Light malt extract
1.7 lb. Amber malt extract
8 oz. Light dry malt extract
Add 1 tsp. Irish moss at 30 minutes of boil.
Hops: 1.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 45 min.)
1.5 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 45 min.)
1/2 oz. Hallertauer (aroma)
1/2 oz. Tettnanger (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast 1056 American Ale yeast.
Log: After wort is transfered to fermenter, add 4 oz. French oak barrel wood chips. Dry hop.
Primary fermentation 9 days.
Remove wood chips, and transfer to secondary for 7 days.
Bottle and wait 3 weeks.
Carbonation: 2.0 volumes Corn Sugar: 1.56 oz. for 2.5 gallons @ 70°F
