Bix's Ale

This was made with assistance from the master brewer at Ollie's Ale House

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
38 HCU (~18 SRM)
Bitterness: 14 IBU
OG: 1.050 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 5.4% v/v (4.3% w/w)
Grain: 0 lb. 8 oz. American crystal 60L
0 lb. 4 oz. British chocolate
Steep: I placed my grains in the brewing kettle with 3 gals of hot water and brought it to a boil and then removed and sparged with 2 cups hot water.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.084 3.0 gallons
6 lb. 8 oz. Light malt extract
added 1tsp of irish moss at last 15 mins of boil
added 10 oz. of honey last 5 mins of boil
Hops: .5 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. STERLING (5.3% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Nottingham Brewing Yeast
Tasting: I tasted at time of bottling, It was a very easy drinking and smooth beer. I expect that it will be very good when the bottles are ready to drink
