Steph's Very Cherry

Fun summer recipe in the making. Will update after after we let it age for a bit.

Beer: Steph's Very Cherry Style: American Amber Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
13 HCU (~9 SRM)
Bitterness: 25 IBU
OG: 1.059 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 6.3% v/v (5.0% w/w)
Water: Good old lake Lewisville tap water. No addy's
Grain: 8 oz. American 6-row
8 oz. American crystal 10L
Steep: In 4 gal. of room temp water steep grain in cheese cloth bag up to 170°F. Continue to steep at that temp for 10 min and remove.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.074 4 gallons
5 lb. Light dry malt extract
1 lb. Amber dry malt extract
5 oz. Corn sugar
Added 1 whirlfloc tablet at 45 min. for clarification. Also at 45 min. added 2 cans Oregon tart pie cherries that we put through the blender just enough to break them up.
Starined them out after the wort had cooled.
Hops: 1 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 45 min.)
.5 oz. Saaz (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast 1007 German ale puer pitchable 125ml XL smack pack.
Log: Primary at 75°F for 6 days. Secondary still going at 9 days. Will update with specifics when complete.
Carbonation: 5oz. corn sugar disolved in 1 cup boiling water. Add 4oz. carlsons cherry extract.
