S. Main Street Amber

Brewed this amber a number of times. A favorite with those who like a "hoppier" ale.

Type: All grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
25 HCU (~14 SRM)
Bitterness: 38 IBU
OG: 1.054 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 5.7% v/v (4.5% w/w)
Water: Spring fed tap water. Just hard enough.
Grain: 6 lb. American 2-row
3 lb. American crystal 10L
1 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
3 oz. American black patent
1 lb. Flaked barley
Mash: 75% efficiency
Rest for 20 minutes at 122°.
Raised to 150° for 60 minutes.
Raised to 160° for 20 minutes.
Sparged with 170° water to get 6.5 gallons.
Boil: 75 minutes SG 1.046 6.5 gallons
Added Irish moss with 10 minutes left in boil.
Hops: .75 oz. Centennial (10.5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Willamette (5% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Saaz (3.75% AA, 10 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: Ale yeast #1056
Carbonation: Bottle carbonated with 6 oz. corn sugar mixed with 1 pint boiling water, cooled, and added to bottling bucket.
Tasting: Brewed a number of times and still one of our favorites.
