Bitterness: 30 IBU
OG: 1.062 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 6.7% v/v (5.2% w/w)
Grain: 20 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. American chocolate
2 lb. Roasted barley
4.25 lb. Flaked oats
Mash: 90% efficiency
Mash at 120 for 30 min, then added water to get up to 135 then heated to get up to 145 then slowly heated from 145 to 160 over a 60 minute period.
Boil: 70 minutes SG 1.056 16.5 gallons
1 lb. Corn sugar
.5 lb. Molasses
Sparged into boilpot. Began heating after 3+ gallons were in pot. Added boil hops when 4+ gallons were in. Sparge continued until boil finished. Hops pulled at 70 minutes. Irish moss added. 1.5 # of dark corn syrup added. (Not corn sugar and molassass). Cooled overnight. YEast pitched in morning.
Hops: 4 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 20 min.)
1 oz. Willamette (5% AA, 20 min.)
Yeast: Mad River Brewery house yeast pitch used.
Log: Brewed on November 9th in the evening. Fermented in the brewpot then racked after 2 days to a keg/carboy.
