Beer: Imperial Stout Double Black Diamond Style: Imperial Stout
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
216 HCU
Bitterness: 5 IBU
OG: 1.088 FG: 1.022
Alcohol: 8.5% v/v (6.7% w/w)
Water: 1 teaspoon burtons water salts.
Grain: 2 lb. American crystal 40L
1 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
1 lb. American black patent
Steep: Steep in Hop bags in the water before starting boil. Leave in for 45min.
Mostly for flavor not for sugars.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.440 1 gallons
7 lb. 3 oz. Dark malt extract
3 lb. Dark dry malt extract
3 oz. Molasses
Half once of Irish moss near the end of the boil.
Hops: 1 oz. Galena (12% AA, 45 min.)
1 oz. Galena (12% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Used liquid abbey ale yeast
Log: Ferment for 5-7 days rack added 1/2 cup priming sugar. Bottled after another 5-7 days.
Tasting: Have blind taste tested with my beer friends holds up nicely. After
a few sips everyone seems to notice the alcohol.
