Stout One

Trying to make a potable stout. Turned out a bit high in IBUs due to a last minute substitution of chinook for kent goldings.

Type: Partial mash Size: 5 gallons

105 HCU (~36 SRM)
Bitterness: 57 IBU
OG: 1.045 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 4.0% v/v (3.1% w/w)
Grain: 2 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. Roasted barley
1 lb. Flaked barley
Mash: 60% efficiency
5 qt water at 170F doughed in and settled at 155F. Mashed in the oven on lowest setting for 75 minutes, then sparged with 5 qt 170F water.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.035 6.5 gallons
2.8 lb. Light malt extract
.5 lb. Light dry malt extract
.5 lb. Wheat extract
Hops: 1 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Tettnanger (4.5% AA, 60 min.)
Yeast: Wyeast Irish Ale from a 2 pt. starter
Log: 1 week in primary at 70F
1 week in secondary at 60F
Carbonation: Kegged and force carb'd.
