Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5. gallons
Color:
131 HCU (~42 SRM)
Bitterness: 16 IBU
OG: 1.058 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 5.7% v/v (4.5% w/w)
Grain: 8 oz. American chocolate
8 oz. Roasted barley
1 oz. Flaked barley
Steep: Steeped adjunct grains at 165° for 30 minutes.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.097 3. gallons
3. lb. Light dry malt extract
3. lb. Dark dry malt extract
Hops: 1.00 oz. Northern Brewer (7.2% AA, 50 min.)
Yeast: Nottingham dry yeast used, very active fermentation, so you may need to use a blowoff tube when fermenting.
Log: Full-hour boil;fermented in primary 2 weeks.
Carbonation: 3 weeks bottle-conditioning, after using 4 oz. by weight cane sugar.
Tasting: Black stout, with a large, brown head. Flavor is roasty and well-balanced. Manly and smooth like a good auto transmission.
