Serious Coffee Stout

I have made a number of similar versions of this over the past few years. This one has more coffee than I have ever used (I usually use one pot) and adds some cascade finish to the fuggles. All previous batches have been excellent.

Bitterness: 36 IBU
OG: 1.073 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 8.4% v/v (6.6% w/w)
Water: Brita filtered
Grain: 8 oz. American crystal 60L
1 lb. American chocolate
1 lb. 8 oz. American black patent
1 lb. Roasted barley
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.121 3 gallons
4 lb. Light malt extract
3 lb. 8 oz. Dark malt extract
8 oz. Brown sugar
8 oz. Molasses
Irish moss (1 tsp)
Gypsum (1 tsp)
Hops: 2 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Muntons dry ale yeast
Log: Three press pots of fair trade french roast coffee are added to the fermenter prior to the wort.
Tasting: This one won the Grand Prize First Annual Athens, Ohio Home Brew competition. Thanks to The Athens do-it-yourself shop.
