Bitterness: 18 IBU
OG: 1.060 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 5.8% v/v (4.5% w/w)
Grain: 8 oz. British crystal 50-60L
8 oz. British chocolate
4 oz. British black patent
Steep: ADD MALT GRAINS (UNCRUSHED) TO ONE AND ONE HALF GALLONS OFCOLD WATER.
BRING MIXTURE TO A SLOW BOIL OVER 30 MIN..
STRAIN GRAINS.
RINSE WITH 1/2 GALLON OF BOILED WATER
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.120 2.5 gallons
3 lb. Amber dry malt extract
4 lb. Dark malt extract (mahogany coast porter kit )
ADD 1 TSP. IRISH MOSS AT THE START
Hops: 1.0 oz. Northern Brewer leaf hops (9.0% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Styrian Goldings pellets (3.0% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. styrian goldings pellets (aroma)
Yeast: PITCHED A SMACK PACK OF WYEAST 1968 (SPECIAL LONDON)
Log: COOLED WORT, WITH A STERILIZED CHILLER, TO 65 DEGREES.
FERMENTED AT 65 DEGREES FOR 2 WEEKS
BOTTLED AND AGED FOR 2 WEEKS
Tasting: A GREAT TASTING DARK BROWN ALE THAT ISN'T AS SWEET AS NORTHERN BROWNS.
