Oh And 11 Lions Ale

More Pot-Luck Than a true recipe or style.
Had a buch of grains and a buch of hops
And a losing team, So what the heck!

Beer: Oh And 11 Lions Ale Style: Brown Porter
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
85 HCU (~31 SRM)
Bitterness: 36 IBU
OG: 1.056 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 6.0% v/v (4.7% w/w)
Water: Started with 5 gallons of cold Detroit tap water
in brew pot. 1 gal. on stove for rinsing grain bag
Grain: 10 oz. German Munich
10 oz. American crystal 40L
2 oz. American chocolate
2 oz. American black patent
2 oz. British chocolate
2 oz. Flaked barley
Steep: Heat 5 gal. in brew pot to 152f. Steeped grains in a bag for
30 min. Rinsed grain with 1 gal. clear water at 150 f.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.047 6 gallons
3.3 lb. Light malt extract
3 lb. Dark dry malt extract
Added 1 tesp. irish moss in last 10 min.
Hops: .5 oz. Target (8.8% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. UK Challenger (6.5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Used 15 grams dry Nottingham Ale yeast re-hydrated in 1/2 cup
boiled cooled water.
Log: Brewed this batch on 2 Dec. 01 While watching the Lions/Bears game.
Hope the ale turns out better than the Lions record.
O.G. was 1.051, chilled w/immersion chiller to 70f before pitch.
Carbonation: 2.0 volumes Corn Sugar: 3.13 oz. for 5 gallons @ 70°F
I will keg this in 5 gal. "Corny" keg with 3 oz. corn sugar.
