Basic Porter

I haven't made this one yet. I would love to hear what people thought of it.

Brewer: Nic Templeton Email: ntempleton@iname.com
Beer: Basic Porter Style: Robust Porter
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
46 HCU (~20 SRM)
Bitterness: 26 IBU
OG: 1.063 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 6.8% v/v (5.3% w/w)
Grain: 8 oz. American crystal 90L
4 oz. American black patent
4 oz. Flaked barley
Steep: Throw grains into steeping bag(s) and toss into the brew pot with 2 gallons of water. Bring water to 160-170°. Hold for 15-20 minutes. (Ofcourse, if this doesn't fit your steeping ideas, use whatever technique you prefer.)
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.157 2 gallons
7 lb. Light malt extract
1 lb. Brown sugar
I usually add a cup or so of malt dextrine to my porter/stouts. I like a little extra head, and it doesn't seem to effect flavor.
Hops: 1 oz. Eroica (12% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 15 min.)
Log: I'll be making this sometime this week.
Carbonation: 2.0 volumes Dried Malt Extract: 5.40 oz. for 5 gallons @ 70°F
