Mesa Moonlight Ale

This is our second batch of this great recipe that has become a
favorite among our friends.

Beer: Mesa Moonlight Ale Style: English Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
10 HCU (~7 SRM)
Bitterness: 24 IBU
OG: 1.058 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 6.2% v/v (4.9% w/w)
Water: We use 6 gallons of Reverse Osmosis water. Three go into the primary
fermenter and three into the brew pot for steep and boil. We add 1 tsp
of gypsum to give the water some character.
Grain: 1 lb. 0 oz. American crystal 20L
Steep: Crystal malt is steeped in a nylon grain bag for 30 minutes in 3
gallons of water held at 150 degrees. Then the temp is brought up to
165 degrees and grains are removed.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.107 3 gallons
6 lb. 0 oz. Light malt extract
2 lb. Honey
6 lbs Muntons pale liquid malt extract, two pounds of Arizona Mesquite
honey and 2 oz of Fuggles added for a vigorous boil of one hour.
Hops: 2 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer Hersbrucker (5% AA, 15 min.)
.5 oz. Styrian Goldings (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast #1968, London ESB Ale, XL Pack.
Log: Brewed on Friday, January 13, 2006. Fermentatiion temperature is 72deg
Carbonation: We will prime this batch with 3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons of corn sugar
Tasting: AHHHHHHHHHHH BEER!!! The elixir of life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
