Green Grass Groaning Ale

This is an adaptation of a Olde English Groaning Ale (birthing ale).It was brewed when the woman was found to be with child and consumed when she was delivering and afterwards.

Type: Partial mash Size: 5 gallons
Color:
20 HCU (~12 SRM)
Bitterness: 0 IBU
OG: 1.110 FG: 1.020
Alcohol: 11.6% v/v (9.1% w/w)
Water: City - water softened
Grain: 6 lb. 0 oz. American 2-row
1 lb. 0 oz. Belgian pale
1 lb. 0 oz. American Vienna
1 lb. 0 oz. Belgian aromatic
1 lb. 0 oz. American crystal 10L
Mash: 70% efficiency
170° strike(3 gallons) for a 155° rest for 2 hours.Sparge with 3.5 gallons 170° for 60 minutes.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.137 4 gallons
6 lb. 0 oz. Light dry malt extract
0 lb. 8 oz. Brown sugar
Irish moss last 5 minutes.
Hops: 1.25 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: Repitch from previous batch (cream ale) plus 1 pkg Muntons Gold.
Log: OG 1.094.Will ferment for 7 days, then rack with gelatin for 14 days.Cold crash (50°) for 4 weeks.
Carbonation: Original recipe calls for molasses to prime.May use some thing else....
Tasting: Forgot 3# of honey, but not sure it needs it....
