BLACK GINGER IPA

start with 3 gallons water in kettle

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
134 HCU (~43 SRM)
Bitterness: 52 IBU
OG: 1.060 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 6.4% v/v (5.0% w/w)
Water: 1 heaping teaspoon Gypsum at 30 min
Grain: 1 lb. American crystal 60L
1 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
.5 lb. American black patent
1 lb. Rye (raw)
Steep: Steep Carafoam,2 ROW 60L ,Rye and Black Patent in a bag at 140°f for 35 minutes rinse bag in 2nd pot of water ( 1 Gallon) and add to kettle to make 4 gallons
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.082 4 gallons
6 lb. Dark dry malt extract
Hops: 1 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Tettnanger (4.5% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Tettnanger (4.5% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer (4.25% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Safale -04
Log: Use 4 oz oak chips, and 2 oz grated white ginger in secondary
Carbonation: keg it up, or prime with 1 cup DME or 3/4 corn sugar
